All around the UC Davis dorms, there’s a great wide world to explore and socialize in, especially if you’re into catching a little Happy Hour excitement. Downtown Davis has a bit of a reputation for playing home to some unique hangouts, and thanks to the Downtown Davis Happy Hour Guide, figuring out where to go for Happy Hour fun has never been easier. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at that Happy Hour Listing, pointing out a few of our favorite options, and giving you a few tips on how to track down a good time when you’re looking for something fun to do in Davis.

    Happy Hour Around Downtown Davis

Take a look at the Downtown Davis Happy Hour Guide, and you’ll see there’s no shortage of establishments to choose from, and they cover a wide range of food and drink styles, so you can find what suits you best easily:

    • Roots of Happiness Kava Bar
    • The Beer Shoppe
    • Bistro 33
    • Burgers & Brew
    • Delta of Venus
    • Dot Island Grill
    • De Vere’s Irish Pub
    • Froggy’s Bar & Grill
    • G Street Wunderbar
    • Little Prague
    • Kathmandu
    • KetMoRee Thai Bar
    • Mukuni
    • Open Rice Kitchen
    • Our House
    • Paesanos
    • Red 88 Noodle Bar
    • Preethi Indian Cuisine
    • Seasons
    • Sophia’s Thai Bar
    • Thai Canteen
    • Steve’s Pizza
    • Tres Hermanas
    • Village Pizza & Grill
    • Woodstock’s Pizza
    • Uncle Vito’s
    • 3rd & U Cafe
    • Bar Bernardo

With so much to choose from, you might be wondering how you’re going to make a pick on what to try first when you head out for Happy Hour. Thankfully, we can point you in the right direction, as it largely depends on what you want to enjoy during Happy Hour. If you’re just looking to down some beers, for instance, The Beer Shoppe on G Street might be your best bet.

Sure, other establishments offer beer during their Happy Hours, but how many have what’s considered to be the “largest selection of premium quality beers in Davis?” There are close to two dozen beers on tap here, and the selection tends to rotate so you can try out new flavors on subsequent visits. Beyond that, though, They’ve got hundreds of bottled beers in the selection, making this, for all intents and purposes, “beer central” within the bounds of Davis.

Happy Hours at The Beer Shoppe run Sundays to Thursdays, from 11:00AM to 4:00PM. During this time, you can get a dollar off draft beers, some of which are only $2.00 to start with, meaning it’s feasible to get your fill on high-quality dollar beers while you’re lounging around with some friends and taking it easy.

But what if you prefer wine with your Happy Hour? While you won’t find that at The Beer Shoppe, you might find it at establishments like de Vere’s, Delta of Venus, and Bistro 33. Personally, we’ve a soft spot for Delta of Venus. It’s been a fixture in Davis since 1993, and while they’re also known for their brunch and dinner options, this place is no stranger to providing a great time at Happy Hour (from 3:00PM to 6:00PM, Monday through Friday), with some notable wine choices like Barrel Racer Sangiovese, Turkovich “The Boss”, Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon, and Putah Creek Chardonnay. You’ll get these for a dollar off during Happy Hour, and can pair your drink with a fine appetizer as well, should you choose.

Now, let’s say you wanted a delicious cocktail. Here, you also have plenty of great options, like KetMoRee, Paesanos, and Seasons. For our money, though, we’d say check out Our House first. It’s over on 2nd Street, in the spot that was once occupied by Aioli Bodega Española. They’ve got a nice, long list of craft cocktails to enjoy, using bourbon, gin, rum, vodka, tequila, and more. During Happy Hour, you can score these cocktails for $2.00 off, and can also get a nice selection of beers, wines, and appetizers if you’re looking to fill your belly as well.

Suffice to say, there are plenty of options for Happy Hour delight around downtown Davis. You need only make a choice and get out there. Be sure to review the entire Happy Hour Guide to learn more about the different establishments and what they offer, then hone in on your perfect choice. And if you’re looking for even more to do around town, might we suggest yet another option?

    Getting “The Dirt” Around Davis

In compiling their Happy Hour Guide, Davis Downtown turned to information from The Davis Dirt, which is a source you should be familiar with too if you’re want to track down any cool happenings around the city. Their calendar lists all sorts of events, like concerts, dance performances, parties, and the like. They also keep a running list on different deals you can score around town, if you’re looking to save some money too.

Coming up in July, for instance, you’ve got cool events like the presentation of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” on July 5th. The musical comedy, part of the 2019 Davis Shakespeare Festival, will be taking place at the Veterans Memorial Theater on East 14th Street at 8:00PM.

You’ve also got community events like the ever-popular Davis Farmers Market making a return, over at Central Park on C Street (a great chance to support local farms while getting some quality ingredients for your next culinary masterpiece).Be sure to keep your eye on “The Dirt,” and stay plugged into what’s going on around the community. In Davis, there’s never a shortage of fun things to do and see!
