    Memorial Trips from Davis

    May 17, 2018

Have your Memorial Day weekend plans suddenly changed and now you’re pining for something exciting to do this year? Those living in apartments for rent in Davis CA should know that there are so many interesting and exhilarating weekend trips that one could take. Forget about Memorial Day festivities for a moment and think about going on an adventurous, wild, and impromptu trip with your friends, family, or significant other.

The beauty of living so close to the Bay Area besides it being a hub of activity is that there are so many interesting communities that have sprung up all around the region. So you always have somewhere worth visiting as long as you are within a relatively short distance of this place. Since Davis is only about an hour and a half away near Sacramento, it’s safe to say that you’ll have no trouble finding a great place to visit that’s only a few hours’ drive from your home or the UC Davis campus.

With that out of the way, we will now take a look at four truly interesting places to visit on Memorial Day weekend if you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway.

    1. Tahoe City

If you’ve never visited the Sierra Nevada Mountains, it’s time to visit beautiful Lake Tahoe while spending the weekend in Tahoe City. The great thing about this location is that there are so many wonderful things to do and lots of recreation being offered all year round.

Since it’s Memorial Day weekend and the weather is going to be warming up, you can visit Tahoe City Kayak to rent a kayak and explore the shores all around the lake. Sometimes it’s fun just lounging around in a kayak as you get to explore the area with your loved ones and friends.

On the other hand, you may prefer to go on a cruise with a full galley and bar available so you can have plenty of food and lots of great drinks as you cruise around Lake Tahoe. That’s where North Tahoe Cruises comes into the picture.

Or better yet, how about enjoying a round of golf? Tahoe City Golf Course is beautiful during this time of year. The course is amazing, the competition is exciting, and the clubhouse is always a fun place to hang out and grab a bite to eat, a couple of beers, and make some new and fascinating friends.

    2. Fort Bragg

While this trip is not necessarily right around the corner since it will take about 4 to 5 hours to get there from Davis, CA, it’s still worth it to visit Fort Bragg over Memorial Day weekend. Why will you and your loved ones have such a good time?

Well, for starters, there are a wide range of attractions for everyone to experience and appreciate. And let’s not forget about all of the stimulating recreational opportunities while visiting here as well.

As an example, on the north side of town you can view the absolutely amazing [Glass Beach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_Beach_(Fort_Bragg,_California), which is stunningly spectacular because the gem like pebbles of ocean shaped glass is truly a sight to behold. If you’re into hiking, you’re definitely in luck because there are plenty of opportunities to go hiking. In fact, you’ll want to check out the trails at Jug Handle Nature Preserve, Jackson State Forest, and MacKerricher State Park to name a few.

Last but certainly not least, for those interested in kayaking and paddling tours along the Mendocino Coast on the Noyo River, you’re going to love Liquid Fusion Kayaking and all they have to offer. So we highly recommend checking them out and all of the other wonderful activities the next time you need to get away from it all and head out for a weekend getaway to Fort Bragg.

As of this moment, they do not have any specific Memorial Day events posted just yet. But there’s bound to be some type of parade or festival going on in the region.

    3. Yountville

Visiting Yountville for Memorial Day weekend is definitely a good idea since it’s only about an hour and a half from Sacramento and located directly in the heart of the Napa Valley in California. So this is a great place to go if you want to go away for the weekend on Memorial Day but don’t want to go too far from home.

This trip is more for the refined person, so to speak. If you’re looking to enjoy wine tasting, award-winning restaurants, celebrity chefs, and gourmet food, then this hidden gem just outside Sacramento is going to be right up your alley.

For starters, you should consider the Yountville Food and Wine Tour. It’s perfect because you get to experience four distinct courses and pairings as a member of a small group of six. They serve vegetarian and gluten-free options if you have any sensitivities, and you’ll learn about biodynamic wine, gourmet food, and you’ll even get to schmooze with celebrity chefs.

Does that sound like an exciting Memorial Day weekend getaway to you? If so, then you need to visit Yountville sooner rather than later.

    4. Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay is also an excellent quick travel destination from Davis and Sacramento since it’s only about 2 ½ hours away. It’s a coastal town with lots of attractions and beautiful beaches, so if you like spending time outdoors, then you’ll definitely like this coastal hotspot.

Is bike riding your thing? If so, you can go to Bike Works to rent a bike to explore this lovely town. They also have kayaking tours, the Seahorse Ranch for anyone looking to go horseback riding, Riptide Charters for whale watching and sport fishing, and so much more.

And let’s not forget about the great tasting seafood. Sam’s Chowder House has amazing seafood and it’s one of the best seafood restaurants you’ve never heard about because it’s been hiding in Half Moon Bay.
